Monsoon Skies & a Breather | Phoenix Child Photographer

August 10, 2011

Taking the month of August off from client sessions.  Planned this at the beginning of the year…needed time to get caught up on back burner business stuff and well, just take a breather.  Savor the days a little more.  Work on some personal projects.  Dream.  Reflect.  Breathe.
My friend Tara has been doing weekly inspiration posts on her blog with a theme of “breathe”.  Today’s post said it perfect.  I just happened to read it right before starting this post and want to encourage you all to click on over there.
Part of my little sabbatical was a birthday present I requested.  I turn 30 this month and there’s one thing I really wanted.  TIME.
We all have 24 hours in a day.  We all fill the minutes differently…some of our time is filled with what we must do and some is filled with what we want to do.  If you’re like me, your days seem over-filled more often than not.  Many days I’m tired.  Many days I feel like I put the urgent above the important.  Many days I forget how really wonderful life is because I’m trying to scratch through a to-do list.  Sound familiar?  But…I love my days.  God has allowed me to be what I dreamt of being when I grew up.  No, not a photographer teehee…a wife and momma.  Photography was an added bonus.  A really GREAT bonus!
So I’m taking some time to breathe.  To refocus and think about what matters.  In a way I already know.  But to be intentional about the important.  To create…just for fun.  To spend some quality time with friends.  To read.  To write.  To swim and learn and play with my kiddos.  That’s what I’m hoping this breather is filled with.
So there probably won’t much posting going on here this month.  You might notice a few changes as I dust off the blog a little and update the website and actually maybe complete the wedding website (gasp!).  We’ll see.
I’ll leave you with some photos that I just did with my girl.  It was a quick shoot since a monsoon was rolling in, but I’m so very glad we did it because you can’t beat an Arizona monsoon sky.  Very moody!  I’ve been lurking around Pinterest (along with the rest of the creative world) and have found it a wonderful world of inspiration.  Used some of the ideas I found in Shay’s shoot.  Hopefully with our own little twists. :)

If you are wondering, I am booking for the remainder of 2011 right now.  Most of my availability is in September, but have one or two spots left in October/November.  No minis this year.  But if you are up for a fun creative child/family session, I would love to chat with you!!
Erin xoxo
