Since we are more than half way through this year, I thought it would be a good time to send a quick update! I’m so grateful to have so many of you that invite me to photograph your family time and time again. Truly, it’s a blessing to be a part of such precious moments! This year I made the decision to only take sessions for maternity, newborn and families with young children. This will most likely continue into 2011 as well. Since the amount of sessions I can take is limited at this point in time, I wanted to make sure there was availability in my schedule for the sessions that I find the greatest joy in. I know some amazing photographers that specialize in seniors and general family photography, so if that is the type of session you need, I would be more than happy to send you some referrals!

EMP WEDDINGS

This year I officially opened up Erin McFarland Photography Weddings. This has been quite an adventure… and I am truly enjoying it! The website for EMP Weddings is in the works and I’ll be sending another newsletter update out once it goes live, but for now all things wedding related can be seen on the blog. Thank you so much to my 2010 brides and those of you who have referred your friends and family to me for wedding photography!  There will be an announcement here on the blog when it goes live!

2010 SESSION AVAILABILITY

The scoop on regular sessions… I am completely booked for 2010, but am currently booking for January and into the spring of 2011.  If you expecting a baby in the new year and have been thinking about a session, please contact me soon!  I would love to get you more information and an official spot of the schedule!

HOLIDAY PORTRAITS

I have had many inquiries as to whether there are going to be holiday mini-sessions this year and I wanted to keep everyone updated so that you can make your holiday portrait plans. I will be doing something a little different this year. I will be doing one morning of what I’m calling “Holiday Snaps.” This is a 15 minute session designed to get a great holiday portrait. The cost is $95 + sales tax.

This will include:  a 15 minute session, an online gallery with approximately 5 finished images, your choice of ONE full resolution image (no sizing restraints) that will be sent to you via email zip file. You will receive a photographer’s release with your image so that you can do your holiday prints and cards with your image. The other images in your gallery will also be available to purchase in print or digital format if you choose.  The full amount of $95 + sales tax is due when you schedule your session to hold your spot. If you have to cancel, session payment is non-refundable, but you are more than welcome to find a family that could take your place and reimburse you for your session fee. Holiday Snaps will be held at the home of Erin McFarland. Below you can see what your scenery will look like… lots of green and I’ll have the couch out there to get you all nice and snuggled up with your loved ones! And as much as time permits, I’ll take some photos of your kids individually as well for your gallery.  There are only a few spots available for Holiday Snaps (Newsletter Readers got first dibs) and will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. The sessions will be held on Saturday, November 20th from 8:00 to 10:35 AM.  Email me if you are interested in grabbing a spot or if you have any further questions!!

(Don’t worry, if you are in the latter category, I am glad you are here!  I am a self-proclaimed blog stalker myself.  Though don’t be afraid to say hello!  And if you have a blog, I’ll most certainly be stopping by.)

Ok, first up… I am loving Brandon Heath’s new song “Love Never Fails.”  One of those songs that really speaks to my heart.  In a world where love is equated with an emotion, this song spells out the true definition.  And it’s not based on how you feel about a person.  In fact, this is how we should strive to love, but it can only be found perfectly through the Creator of Love.  It’s based on I Corinthians 13:4-13.  When it’s all said and done, this is how we all craved to be loved.

Next up… technical glitches.  I’ve known for a while now my blog has not been jiving with RSS and Google Reader!  It’s been on the “list” of things to look into, but anything techy like that usually takes me an entire day to iron out.  Soooooo… i’ve been avoiding it.  Sometimes I feel like I need an IT department around here!  But I know if I don’t get alerted by RSS or my Google Reader that a blog has been updated, I don’t remember to check it.  I presume it’s the same for most of you too.  Well, lucky for me I have a sister-in-law who is techy savvy and got my RSS feed all straightened out and my blog communicating with Readers via RSS again!  Woot!!  Thanks Lori!

Finally, a quick peek at a couple photos of my beautiful friend Christie.  One of the best gifts in life are true and genuine friends… and getting to celebrate life’s blessings together.  And a very sweet blessing is on his way.

Amongst the craziness, I have been having a lot of fun with my camera!  Here a quick peek on what’s been going on around here:

At the end of October, we had 2 days of holiday mini sessions at the Boojum Tree in Phoenix!  It was so cool getting to see some families that I have photographed many times in the past and also getting to meet a bunch of amazing new families.  Thanks to everyone who made the minis (all 15 of them) a fantastic time this year!

The original day for holiday mini sessions filled up within a day, so I decided to open up a second day.  The news for the mini sessions went out first to my newsletter subscribers, so if you would also like to be the first to know what’s going on around here, please take a minute and subscribe!  Up at the top of my blog, you will see “Newsletter” up in the menu tabs.  Just fill out the form and you will receive the newsletter that I will be sending out from time to time.

The goal of the mini session is to get a great family photo and some individual photos of your little ones.  Time for the session and the amount of images you are presented with are limited, so please make sure that a mini session will fit your expectations!

I am so excited to be able to post images so big!!  I decided to try and be a computer geek and install this on my own… I think I jumped up and did a little happy dance when I actually did it correctly!  For some people, something like this is cake, but was quite the challenge for my artsy brain!  Thanks to the good folks at Tofurious for the sweet template and wonderful installation tutorials.  I am still customizing and will continue to update the menu links.  I am hoping to soon have a place for you to register for my newsletter… this is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time to update you on upcoming promotions and new goodies!  If you are registered to receive my newsletter, you will be the first to know about these things  Here’s a little preview of a post that will be coming soon!  I am so excited to be partnering with the talented Julie of Juju’s Tutu’s and one of the adorable boutiques of Historical Glendale, Miracle Haven.  More on them both soon and the recent children’s photography from our collaborations!  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
