I don’t have a personal blog for one reason:  it would probably get updated once a year.  I knew from the get-go that one blog was my limit!  But I know my family, friends, and even many of my awesome clients tell me they love hearing about the pint sized humans in the McFarland house through my blog. So I’ll be jotting stories about them every now and then, as well as some of the randomness that makes up my days.  So if you are mostly interested in the visuals of my posts, just scroll along… photos will always follow my ramblings. Just sometimes they will be of my three little monsters blessings. :)

On a quick business note, I only have a couple May sessions left and then I will be booked until July.  The wedding side of my business is now in motion, so that limits the amount of portrait sessions I can take.  If you are interested in a session in May or sometime this summer, please contact me soon!

Now, onto the best part of this post… baby Cody.

Cody’s Dad is a Phoenix firefighter.  And they had the awesome idea of doing some of the photos at the station… and I love when my clients incorporate who they are in their session!

Claire had the sweetest necklace on.  Her sister had a baby just weeks before little Cody arrived, so they both got this necklace that says “Our family just grew by two feet.”

Two feet

A little grin…

I seriously have the coolest clients that are usually up for my crazy ideas.  I have this thing with lanterns and have been playing with them in photos lately.  I have a whole post coming one of these days of my girly girl with the lanterns.  Good thing we had a firefighter close by with all those candles burning!

You know how when you were a kid and it seemed like time went by soooo sloooow.  Like it took forever for your birthday to come or Christmas to get here or even for Friday to roll around each week??  I feel like the older I get, the faster time is flying!!  It freaks me out a bit sometimes!  Like the fact that it’s 2010.  I feel like I was just in high school… and in reality my 10 year reunion came around last year!  I’m officially “old” to anybody under 20!

So I am trying to carve out a little time during the week to do things that I love… it’s good for the soul you know!  I’ve rediscovered a love for reading that got buried under finishing school, having babies, and starting my own business.  But I’ve decided to pick up literature again and enjoy the written word.  I recently finished the most delicious book… The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society!  I wouldn’t usually use an adjective like “delicious” to describe a book, but it just seems to fit.  When I got to the end, I was neither wishing for more or glad it was done… it was perfectly satisfying.  I was a bit skeptical of a good story developing from a novel written completely in letters back and forth between the characters, but it was brilliant!  It’s one of those stories where you wish the characters were real and you knew them.  Highly recommend!

Back to the subject of time… my poor blog has been a bit neglected due to lack of it!  I really do enjoy jotting my musings here and sharing the beautiful faces I have the privilege of photographing, so I’m getting back to it.  January was a month of newborns… so I definitely got my baby itch scratched!  I luuuuuuv newborns… they are just so perfect and always smell wonderful {when diaper is clean, that is}.  And i love photographing a tender moment with baby and mom/dad.  Soooo… I’m so glad sweet baby Kayla was a snuggler.  She was so sleepy and curly and cooperative… I almost felt a little guilty!  Usually newborns make me work a little harder to get the shots!  So here’s the newest addition to the beautiful H family…

Happy Valentine’s Day…

February 14, 2010

From my 3 little love bugs to yours ;)

Valentines Day

Since the kiddos were with Grammy and Pappy tonight, hubby and I celebrated Valentines a day early… and hubby gets major brownie points!  After I got home from my shoot {hello T if you are reading this… had a blast with you guys!} he made me stay upstairs until he came to get me.  At first I thought he was trying to cook (my man would live on frozen pizza and cereal if he wasn’t married), so I was a bit worried!!  When finally I am allowed downstairs, the room is lit with candles and my favorite flowers of the moment- gerbera daisies- are on the counters.  On the dinner table sits a very nice looking meal to which I gave a raised eyebrow and he pointed to the take-out bags.  Now that’s the guy I know and love!  Watched Dan in Real Life after dinner, split a tiramisu, and laughed really hard at the suggestive Hallmarks we exchanged (it’s always a contest of who can find the funniest card…Matt won this year!)  Awesome night with my best friend!  Had to brag on him a bit. ;)

Hope you enjoy today with all the ones you love!
